It is hoped that the project will revitalise the sluggish Northpoint Business Village and bring back consumers to the area once the highly popular Yishun mall is closed. Yishun Mall was one of the biggest draws for shoppers in the area for the past fifteen years or more. After its closure, there was little to no foot traffic in the area, which had fallen into disrepair and was not presenting a good image to potential shoppers.
Sing Holdings Real Estate Developer Steve Yishun said that the Yishun EC would bring much needed investment capital into the struggling Northpoint Business Village and create a great place for local residents to live. He said that the project was designed to create two to three hundred jobs during the construction of the seven-storey building, and would allow the Yishun Group to continue its strong run of the shopping mall. “This development will bring in significant revenue for the Yishun Group and we believe that the creation of the Yishun Fitness Center will generate significant employment for the community, which in turn will generate additional property tax revenues for the city,” said Yishun.
Yishun EC Sing Holdings Real Estate Developer has contracted a Spanish company to construct the Yishun Fitness Center and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The construction site is also being handled by Newmar Corporation, a Utah based construction and development company with experience in working with the Yishun Group as well as other well-known developers. The new complex will also have a residents’ association to facilitate the condo’s access to common areas and services.
The new transport hub in Yishun is being built at Northpoint City in partnership with the Yishun Group which is an investment firm that is led by Simon Yeung.
